Archive immediately was filled with documents, which was connected with history of Vyshgorod district’s localities.

During the existence, the Archive has changed its location three times: first, it occupied basement in building on 7 Mazepa street (formerly - prospect Molodizhny), subsequently, in 1985, it was transferred to the administrative premises on 6 Naberezhna street, and in the early 90-ies of the last century archive moved to premises that previously were occupied by the Vyshgorod district committee of the Communist Party of the USSR. Since then, district archive located on the second floor of the administrative building on the Shevchenko square.

Archive department of Vyshhorod district administration – is the only archival institution in the district currently. Therefore, it keeps both special archive documents of the National Archival Fund and documents of liquidated institutions, enterprises and organizations of Vyshgorod district.

Due to changes in the state structure, the structure of governance and other factors, the Archive’s title and submission has been changed repeatedly. Since 1995 “Archive department of Vyshhorod district administration" objects to the state administration, and functions in the status of a separate structural unit of district state administration.

Since archive’s formation, self-supporting group of scientific and technical documents processing operated in the archive. It was eliminated in 2002, and thenceforth, the department structure remains unchanged till now.

From its inception and till the end of 2007 the district archive was headed by Galina KOSTENKO. From January 2008 till now – by Timofiy KLYMENKO.
